Post #1: Oct. 2nd Getting Ready to Travel

Another year and another place to go with my travel friend Judith.  This Morocco trip is number 8 with Judith and previous places have included:

India and Nepal 2015

Peru, Galapagos, Equador 2016

Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Borneo  2017

Indonesia 2018

South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe 2019

Cambodia, Laos and Singapore 2022

Sri Lanka 2023

They have all been full of many memorable experiences.  I love the fact that someone (not me) does all the planning.  I just show up and magical times happen that are full of exploration, adventure and learning.  It's right up my alley.  Best of all I get to share them with a great and fun travel partner.

This year is Morocco.  It's going to be hot.  The coastal areas are much more temperate, but it's still going to be in the high 20's.  I expect some of the interior areas will be in the low 30's.  Coupled with the high temperatures is the fact that Morocco is a Muslim country and dressing modestly is an important and respectful thing to do.  Fortunately the first few days of the trip will be in cities with a souk (markets), so I hope to purchase some loose fitting pants, maxi dresses or such to cover up and stay cool.  I will trade off on looking good in my holiday pictures for being more comfortable on a stinking hot day.

My travel blogs never get finished despite my best intensions.  I always fall behind because the days are busy and there's only so many hours of sleep I can do without in order to write the blog posts.  I'll try not to leave a cliffhanger like I did when Judith felt ill in Bangkok.

As I travel in Morocco, I'm looking forward to spending less time following US politics.  It's fascinating to me how you could get half the population supporting a serial rapist, convicted felon, 6 time corporate bankrupt, and all around bad person.  I will miss baking sourdough boules.  This year I decided to learn how to make decent sourdough bread (after seeing my sister's fabulous bread) and although it took me a few weeks to learn how to consistently make a good sourdough boule, I can safely say, I figured it out.  I get a lot of satisfaction making a loaf, and get way more giving them away.  From the number of bread bags I've bought from Amazon to package my bread in, I've given away more than 100 loaves.  For sure, I've eaten a few of those loaves, and have learned that I am proof that the universe is still expanding.  Will need to start addressing that fact.

Sourdough Boule created Oct 2nd.

Here's the Morocco itinerary for your happy reading:  Morocco Itinerary

Flight information is as follows:  Morocco Flights

I have a long 7 hour layover in Montreal on the flight back and will need to figure out how to entertain myself...  Maybe finish my Morocco blog?

I'm leaving in a couple of days, and there's still lots to do in order to get ready...
